What is an Article Publishing Charge (APC)?

Answer

An APC is a publication fee charged to authors to make their work available without a subscription, also known as open access (OA) publishing. Authors or their institutions typically pay the APC upon acceptance of the manuscript, with fees varying widely by publisher and journal. The Health Sciences Library has negotiated APC and publication discounts or waivers for UTHSC authors with some publishers. Email us at library@uthsc.edu for more information.
