Why are there so many databases? Can't I just use PubMed?

Answer

While PubMed is the most well-known database for health sciences research, each research database has its own strengths.

  • For example, Embase is considered one of the best databases for Pharmacy, while Scopus provides relevant articles from a variety of disciplines and contexts.
  • Some database platforms such as Ovid or EBSCO provide a different interface to access information with unique tools, filters, and adjustments to make your search simpler or more robust as needed.
